This paper displays contra all prior literature that definite subjects are permitted in Negative Inversion constructions. It displays that definite subjects in Negative Inversions are ruled by particular pragmatic constraints. It asserts that Negative Inversions are diachronic descendents of Modal Existential sentences. It also displays that first and second point of highlights follow from third.
