This paper deals with oh wait, a borrowed ironic pragmatic marker frequent in Spanish football chats, and with how and why this English marker is incorporated into Spanish football comments. Oh wait multifunctionality acts at four distinct discourse levels. Distinct native and non-native (imperfect) uses of oh wait are handled.
