This paper examines impoliteness' workings in globalised social media contexts. It handles ludic impoliteness, playfulness, face-attack and public participation. Tweets (2015) craft the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras's socially-mediatised persona as an unfit leader. Participants use analogy, juxtaposition, locally-oriented resources, cultural intertextual references and mixed Greek-English script. The creative mocking of Tsipras' public persona functions as a source of amusement, community bonding and political critique.
