The address and reference system in the lyrics of British Grime artists shows several cultural effects. This linguistic system is controlled by a discourse of enmity and freewill kinship. Conformity to the system permits these artists to indicate their affiliation with a devised community. The devised community is featured by solidarity which is rooted in social slighting. Grime artists elucidate multi-ethnic dialects and the influence of globalisation on adolescents.
