Annotation

This paper assays Spanish-English code-switching in the music of the Texas Tornados, a bilingual-bicultural San Antonio band. 39% of songs cover some form of Spanish/English mixing. Lexical insertions and inter-sentential switching are the most usual code-switching types. Code-switching is employed to Latinize songs and for humorous result. Artistic code-switching employment shows big levels of poetic mastery. Code-switching points out a distinct status for Spanish and English.
