Naïve participants began unprompted face-to-face conversations with a confederate. The confederate voiced the nonsensical sentence “colorless green ideas sleep furiously”. Two thirds of the participants failed to mention the incoherence. The result is compatible with prior findings with instant messaging. Incoherence discernment in conversation is not very trusty.
