This article asserts that reporting, capturing and voicing speech are acts in which there is a declining distance between animator and author. It is the first linguistic account of reported speech amid the Araweté. The article also claims that Amerindian comprehensions of the voice are a step in grasping the meaning of reference in the Amerindian linguistic natures.
