Annotation

Amazonian language ideologies are not essentially the reverse of “neoteric” or “Western” language ideologies. Kawaiwete shamanism employs the creative treatment of the metalingual function of language to produce a perspectival cosmos. Non-referential communication is a considerable part of Kawaiwete (lowland Brazil) shamanism.
