This article examines matters linked to the textual organization of university lectures and the extent to which they are covered of conventionalized text-organizational schema or genre stagings. It displays that lectures, as instances of spoken, evidently unprepared language do, to a notable extent, depend on pre-fabricated and culturally recurrent textual arrangements which the speakers draw on as they spontaneously generate the topical communicative event.
