This study briefly surveys the sociolinguistic situation of Francoprovençal (FP) in Switzerland and accounts for political actions to foster its use; it then describes how the speakers themselves further their linguistic heritage. Fieldwork with native, new and local actors has been performed reveal their representations on Francoprovençal. While different representations have been distinguished, particularly concerning transmission methods, there appears to be strong agreement on the need of protecting this linguistic heritage.
