Annotation
An attempt to show why a science of symbolism and meaning as developed by C.K.Ogden and I.A.Richards is necessary from the perspective of the ethnographer's difficulties in dealing with primitive languages. M. illustrates, through the analysis of utterances and speech situations among 'savages', the problems that arise and the solutions that might be appropriate.
