Academics and Emiratis have inquired the extent to which Arabic is menaced in the United Arab Emirates. Given the use of English in much domains outside of the home, coupled with its global prestige, such doubt concerning the future of Arabic are justified, yet there is at present no baseline data on how Emiratis are employing language in their daily lives. This paper explores language threat within this context.
