Annotation

The inquiry of polarity phenomena can be supremely disclosing about the internal structure of a language, as they ordinarily imply an interaction at the interface between syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Recent years have witnessed a growing interest in positive polarity items. This inquiry displays that positive polarity is a distributional phenomenon that has various sources and most likely cannot be shaped in a uniting way, albeit there may be subsets of positive polarity items that permit uniting accounts.
