This study regards the interaction between government and grassroots initiatives to produce Galician-speaking spaces in mainly Spanish-speaking urban settings. Official language policies in Galicia since the 1980s have raised the potential for language use via bilingual educational policies, but have misfired to convert the wide pool of possible speakers amid the young Galician generation into active language users.
