Annotation

This study problematises the fact that language courses for newcomers are equated with social integration, and underlines that this may render the unequal position of novel speakers in relation to power and linguistic capital. The study uses the qualitative data gathered in social integration programmes in Madrid and Barcelona between 2010 and 2014, and clarifies what kinds of linguistic resources were spread in these classrooms as well as the positioning of these learners in relation to power.
