This paper explores diglossic patterns of language use by speakers of Zoroastrian Dari in the city of Yazd, where most of Zoroastrian population of Iran lives. Attempts have been made to learn how, when and why the spoken Dari language is graced by Zoroastrian community members instead of the majority language, viz. Persian. The results point to various sociocultural factors at work in deciding linguistic code selection.
