It is broadly recognized that research ethics is a contentious concept in cross-linguistic, crosscultural inquiry. Divers principles, covering the researcher's intent and integrity, the social hostage notion, and the inclusion of non-human knowledges are debated as they relate to the evolution of a non-extractive research ethics in applied linguistics.
