This study examines the translation of non-canonised literature from a minority culture (Catalan) into a hegemonic culture (Spanish). It displays that the omission of the source culture's distinguishing characteristics not only induces a loss of source culture elements in the target text, but it also justifies the hegemonic role of the dominant culture.
