Adopting the point of view of the audience, and using a formal language for conditional assertion, a concept of pragmatic presuppositions and the order of speech acts performed, M. determines at each step in a speech (an ordered set of speech acts used to express commitments to propositions, performed by a speaker in a context) to what possible propositions the speaker expresses his commitment.
