This study examines the rhetorical functions of what it names metadiscursive nouns (like fact, analysis, belief) and maps them onto a metadiscourse model. It explores ‘metadiscursive noun + post-nominal clause’ patterns, one of the most common structures including such nouns, in a corpus of 120 research articles across six particular disciplines.
