Theories that estate creoles were all born as pidgins at West African coast slave castles have not fared well amid creolists, among a predilection for presuming that creoles are born, or not, according to factors local to a given context. This article indicates why, particularly in light of inquiry since, the “Afrogenesis” paradigm still deserves earnest deliberation.
