This paper deals with collective memories of colonialism and acculturation dynamics amid Congolese immigrants residing in Belgium. It is found that individuals recollect their ingroup’s past in accord with their actual social identifications and relationships within a given society. These findings are debated in light of their effects on modern intergroup relations between Belgian host and immigrant communities.
