Peter Hanks and Scott Soames have elaborated a theory of propositions as structured cognitive event types, as has Wayne Davis in former works. They incorrectly portend that all propositional relation reports have both lucent and opaque explanations. Davis presents a novel account, on which propositional relation reports have the semantic equivocation quality of idioms, with the lucent explanation being greatly but not fully compositional.
