This paper explores the Research Excellence Framework (REF), the most current repetition of the UK government funded academic work evaluation practice. It uses a transdisciplinary method that employs political economy, social theory and critical discourse analysis. REF appears to cancel university as a possible locus of intellectual protest to the neoliberal rule.
