This paper explores phenomena like entrepreneurialism, homo economicus, and the market, which have got notable in debates on neoliberalism in recent years and which are pivotal to this special issue's contributions. It also states that neoliberal keywords are common in documents edited under ‘Horizon 2020’, the present European Commission frame for academic inquiry funding, which indicates a further instrumentalization of academic inquiry.
