The parasocial contact hypothesis was depended on to evolve a range of hypotheses about the link between news consumption as a subsidiary form of intergroup contact and attitudes toward Muslim Americans. Piety level, political identity, gender, and ethnicity were also linked to stances toward Muslim Americans.
