Annotation

The word-by-word time-course of spoken language understanding is investigated in two experiments, focusing simultaneously on word-recognition (local) processes and on structural and interpretative (global) processes. The results provide evidence for a non-line interactive language processing theory (i.e. one in which different knowledge sources - structural and semantic - interact, and in which contextual (discourse) factors play a crucial role).
