This paper reports an assay employing the conversation analytical (CA) method of the use of laughter within a corpus of cognitive-behavioral therapy sessions. It centers on the asymmetry that features the roles of psychotherapist and client in psychotherapy sessions and, especially, on the part that laughter plays in this scenario sort.
