Predicated upon ethnographic fieldwork in two towns in the Irish Republic, this paper examines the local parley, assent, and dispute of two community-level Irish language interest groups’ efforts to settle the use of Irish in business by mobilizing discourses of language commodification to set Irish as a commercial gain.
