This paper explores Kinyarwanda language users’ stances towards Kinyarwanda orthography shift, which was executed on 13 October 2014 in Rwanda. It also debates the impact of a top–down language policy method on the speakers’ stances toward the shift, and their potential impact on language policy execution.
