Annotation

This article explores the execution of official language policy drafted to help imperiled Indigenous languages in the commune of São Gabriel da Cachoeira (Brazil). The policy, installed since late 2001, attested three of the region’s Indigenous languages (Tukano Nheengatú, and Baniwa) as locally “co-official”; its practical execution stayed confined.
