This article employs ethnomethodology and conversation analysis to detect the instructed evolution of a practical ability (the ‘mirror routine’ (MR)) in a driving school in Sweden. The MR is an intricate task in which the partakers must handle temporality, instructions, and practical multi‐activity concurrently.
