It is vague what short term memory (STM) elements are required for the learning and lexicalisation of novel written words. In this assay, data stem from Cantonese–English bilingual speakers. STM processes seem to limit L2 written word lexicalisation. Serial order and executive control memory skill have unalike biases for word lexicalisation.
