This assay revises Davidson’s paratactic story of indirect reports, the charges met, and the help got. It then gives data from Persian which appear to back the idea that neither Davidson and his backers nor his antagonists were fully right, and that a fit theory of indirect reports needs to be semantico-pragmatic in nature.
