This article explores the diverse morphological mechanical processes in a list of Zulu bird names, which was framed thanks to five bird name workshops carried out from 2013 to 2017. The final list covered a number of old and newly coined Zulu bird names. All these names were examined at the five workshops by a panel of expert Zulu-speaking bird guides jointly with two African language professors, who framed a wide list of all Zulu bird names for the KwaZulu-Natal area over five years via specific morphological processes. This article examines in depth the creativity behind the coinage processes by assaying the morphology of both old and new names.
