Annotation

A psycholinguistic inquiry on the role of aging in processing presuppositions (PPs) is proposed. Healthy older adults display higher processing costs in PPs than younger adults. The skill to retrieve information introduced in the discourse as naturally is impacted by the age factor. The fall in Working Memory skill with aging impacts older adults' skill to retrieve from the discourse mental model information introduced as presumed.
