This paper explores the function of the Swabian particle gell, used to control turn-peripheral Common Ground in a narrative or a dialogical context, centering on the latter. Peripheral particle spread is not related to pragmatic function. Order of (inter-)subjective particles depends on proposal proximity. Hat-contour tallies target of intersubjective particle at the left periphery. Knowledge asymmetry between collocutors defines particle interpretation.
