This paper explores diverse uses of the gestures that are ordinarily linked to explicitly voiced negation (overt negation) in spoken Israeli Hebrew. The practice of gestural patterns linked to grammatical negation in diverse contexts makes negative inference visual. The interface between gestural and verbal modalities in one specific field can elucidate diverse expressions of that domain. Via the practice of these special gestures, the higher abstract concept of ‘negativity’ can show itself.
