Annotation

English discourse markers (DMs) are oft joint into sequences, which curiously happen at the start and the closing of conversational turns. The DMs order in such sequences has a functional reason. It echoes communicative tasks' temporal order in speech production. DM sequences supply proof for a syntax outside the clause.
