This paper handles the use of corpus linguistic methods in L2 developmental pragmatics. Study-abroad learners displayed a stable, raised choice for explicit routine apologies. Learners pursued to overgeneralise practice of individual IFIDs over time. Shifts cover moves towards an L2 norm as well as non-linear evolution. Other routines follow other evolutionary patterns.
