This corpus-based inquiry collates the strategies used by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) and China Daily in representing the involvement of China, the Hong Kong government, the protesters and the students in Hong Kong's Umbrella Movement about 2014. The discursive images of the social actors were very distinct in the SCMP and China Daily, and a broad set of discursive strategies were employed to frame the social actors.
