Annotation

Classroom talk is marked by the reporting of many crossing voices. Teachers employ constructed direct reported speech (CDRS) in the presence of the students whose voices they are animating. CDRS in classrooms oft adopt familiar forms. Classroom talk partakes in and adds to post-traditional social transformation, featured by institutional authority relations' renegotiation.
