This paper limns the sequential setting of hinting via the unfolding of the action with pre-hinting sequences started via the use of interrogatives, knowledge checks, and past references. It offers insights for an overall grasp of the interactional hinting path as a context-specific social action and conduces to inquiry on L2 interaction in online environs.
