Maltese with its hardly motley Arabic/Italian/Sicilian/English lexicon fits perfectly for a widening of the inquiry on morphological productivity towards a more crosslinguistic approach.The approach has the potential to enhance the methodological repertoire of language contact studies by empowering more detailed statements about the status of borrowed morphology in a recipient language.
