Annotation

This article explores the close parallels between the contact phenomena in Cantonese-English bilingual children and Southeast Asian creoles, particularly in the field of perfective aspect marking. Assuming an ecological approach to language transfer and creole genesis, it debates how the evanescent grammaticalization phenomena in the bilingual children can be collated to decreolization, and how the inquiry of bilingual acquisition can conduce to contact linguistics.
