Annotation

This inquiry assays language choices in the linguistic landscape of Macao’s heritage tourism (i.e. signposts of tourist attractions) and gaming tourism (i.e. casino promotional brochures). The Macao case exemplifies multilingualism commodification for profit. Despite the similitudes and odds, language choices in both signposts and brochures mark reductive translingualism under the neoliberal ideology which values languages' instrumental function for profit-making aims.
