Annotation

This study explored: a) language anxiety (LA) in Chinese dialects and Putonghua amid college students in mainland China and b) the links between their LA in the first language and a set of sociobiographical and linguistic variables. Partakers were 778 Beijing college students speaking Chinese dialects and Putonghua. The higher levels of LA in dialects united with their language practices propose a relatively lower trust in dialect use amid this group of well educated young Chinese adults.
