Annotation

This paper explores Puerto Rican bilingual youth’s (PRBY) stances towards five speech varieties (Spanish, English, Spanish with English lexical insertions, inter-sentential code-switching, and intra-sentential code-switching). Outcomes show an attitudinal shift in progress, by which PRBY appear more assuming of lexical insertions and intra-sentential code-switching, and more sensitive towards diverse kinds of code-switching (hence, their awareness of the switching kinds that prevail in diverse speech communities).
