This study on one case of a mental care consultation with a nonpresent interpreter, examines how the three partakers—mental health practitioner, client, and nonpresent interpreter—employ multimodal resources to control the potential interactional relations amid themselves. It displays that, at certain points, they employ gaze and body orientation to integrate into the total triadic interaction a set of practitioner-client exchanges. The data are in Arabic and French with an English translation.
