Annotation
This paper proposes two studies further limning the distinctive qualities and functions of AE newreader speech, centering on prosody. The first explores newsreader speech production, limning the mensurable contrasts in pitch, speed, intensity, and melodic traits between newsreader and conversational speech, and linking those traits to perceptions of authority, credibility, charisma, and linked traits. The second explores newsreader speech perception. It is shown that listeners can discern newsreader from conversational speech by mere prosodic information.
